Child Safety on Education Setu
Many students on Education Setu are under the age of 18. We take extra precautions to make sure their learning experience is safe, respectful, and appropriate at every step. This page explains what we expect from mentors and how parents and students can stay protected.
How Mentors Must Behave with Minors
Every mentor on Education Setu agrees to follow these rules when teaching or communicating with a student under 18. Violation of any of these leads to immediate suspension pending review.
Platform-Only Communication
Mentors must keep all conversations with minor students within Education Setu’s messaging and class tools. Moving communication to personal phone numbers, social media, or private messaging apps is not allowed.
Parent or Guardian Involvement
For students under 18, a parent or guardian must be included on the account, informed of session schedules, and able to review communication and session activity at any time.
No Personal or Private Requests
Mentors must never ask a student for personal photos, addresses, private meetings outside the platform, gifts, or any information unrelated to the course being taught.
Strictly Educational Content
All sessions, messages, and materials shared with a minor must relate directly to the subject being taught. Personal, romantic, or otherwise unrelated conversation is not permitted.
Recorded & Supervised Sessions
Live classes with minor students are recorded or logged wherever possible, so a session can be reviewed if a concern is ever raised by a student or parent.
Identity Verified Before Teaching
Every mentor completes an identity and background verification before they are allowed to connect with any student, including minors.
What You Can Expect & Do
Review a mentor’s verification badge and profile before booking any session for your child.
Ask to be added to your child’s account so you can see session schedules and messages.
Talk to your child about never sharing passwords, personal details, or moving chats off the platform.
Report anything that feels inappropriate immediately — even if you’re unsure, we’ll review it.
Sit in on early sessions with a new mentor if your child is comfortable with that.
Check in with your child regularly about how their sessions are going.
See something concerning? Report it right away.
If a mentor’s behavior makes a student or parent uncomfortable, or breaks any of the rules above, report it immediately. Every report involving a minor is reviewed on priority, and the mentor’s access is restricted while we investigate.
